Biography
Michael Murrin is an active performer, composer, arranger, and conductor. As a professional tubist, euphoniumist, and trombonist, Michael has experience in a variety of performance settings, from performing with the San Francisco Wind Ensemble and the USC Thornton Symphony to performing in dixieland, musical theater, popular music, and film score recording settings. A recipient of First Prize in the International Tuba Euphonium Conference Small Ensemble Competition, Michael has performed under the direction of maestros such as Gerard Schwarz, Carl St. Clair, John Nelson, H. Robert Reynolds, Sharon Lavery, Allan McMurray, and others.
As a composer, Michael has received commissions from the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Santa Rosa Junior College Orchestra, and the Center for Spiritual Living Santa Rosa. Michael’s music has received performances in venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and by outstanding ensembles including Brass Over Bridges and the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass Quintet.
Michael received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2014 from the University of Southern California, under the mentorship of Jim Self and Norm Pearson.
